AP: Global Warming Allows Russia to Stake Claim to Arctic Resources

The Associate Mess reported Monday that Russia is moving a submarine destroyer and a missile cruiser to the Arctic to patrol and provide security for its fishermen.  The AP states that Russia is moving to "stake its claim to resources that are increasingly accessible as global warming melts Arctic ice."  This refers to an underground mountain range believed to hold vast amounts of oil and natural gas.  Global warming; the one piece of good news in this entire article.

Apparently Norway is keeping Russain fishermen from using waters blocked by a 1982 UN treaty which Russia does not recognize to begin with.  So the Russian warships are supposedly going to blaze a path through that on their way to conquer more areas of the North Pole.  I hope Mrs. Claus has cookies and milk waiting for them.

The Russians say there "is nothing aggressive in it", but we all know better.  Russia isn't sending powerful warships such as submarine destroyers and missile cruisers to help fishermen go around waters blocked by a treaty they don't even recognize.  I don't seem to remember reading any reports of Norwegian submarines attacking Russian fishermen, thereby requiring the protection of submarine destroyers.

Meanwhile, back here in the United States our Congress still rests their big fat rear-ends on a moratorium against more exploration and drilling while Americans pay higher and higher prices for fuel and energy.  Our so-called "representatives" are locked in debate over offshore production along with drilling in ANWR, totally ignoring the trillions of barrels of oil sitting right beneath our feet in the Green River and Bakken reserves.  On top of it all we now get to sit idly by while the Russians, aided by global warming, take over the North Pole and all its natural resources through military force which has nothing to confront it, other than polar bears of course

Have I mentioned that Congress has a 9% approval rating?
