The Cease-Fire in Name Only Continues in Israel

Palestinians fired mortar from the Gaza Strip into the western Negev, another violation of the cease-fire with Israel.

Tuesday's attack, which caused no damage, came hours after Israel reopened its border crossings with Gaza in response to a request by Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman.

Suleiman also said the reopenings would help with negotiations on kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The crossings had been closed early Tuesday in response to a mortar attack the previous day.

No group claimed responsibility for either attack.

About 15 Kassam rockets and mortar shells have been fired from Gaza since the beginning of the Egyptian-brokered truce between Israel and Hamas on June 19.

Israel closes the crossings, the Palestinians open fire.  Israel re-opens the crossings, the Palestinians open fire.  I hate to jump to conclusions, but I think I'm beginning to see a pattern here.  Maybe it's just me.  For many of us looking from the outside-in on the Palestinian's war against Israel, it just gets more and more silly as the days go by.  Both sides continue to claim a cease-fire is in effect while Palestinian rockets, missiles, and mortar continue to rain down on innocent Israeli civilians.  I know this sounds crazy to Ehud Olmert; I think it's time for Israel to return fire.  Just for the sake of appearences at this point.  The Palestinian animals are going to attack nno matter what Israel does, so the IDF might as well be unleashed to do its job.
