12 October 2000- USS COLE terrorist attack
While refueling in Aden Harbor, Yemen USS COLE was victim of terrorist attack. USS COLE was attacked on Port Mid-Ships by a small boat with explosives onboard. The result of which led to a 40 by 60 foot hole and the loss of 17 sailors.
Every terrorist convicted and sentenced to prison in Yemen who were responsible for the bombing of the USS Cole have either been freed or escaped. Two of the terrorists freed from prison went on to commit bombings in Iraq. There are two left and they are now being held at the Guantanamo Bay detention center. Recently discovered was another detainee, unrelated to the USS Cole bombing, held at Guantanamo who was set free. He was later found to be one of three suicide bombers blowing-up our soldiers and civilians in Mosul, Iraq. This terrorist was repatriated back into Kuwait, his home country which we freed from the clutches of Saddam Hussein, and made his way into Iraq then on to Mosul.
It is now an indisputable fact that when Islamo-fascist prisoners are let out of Guantanamo, or any other prison, they promptly proceed to re-engage in terrorist activity gleefully murdering our soldiers and innocent civilians. As I write this article we have three Democrat Presidential candidates to choose from; John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and B. Hussein Obama. Each one of them has been adamant about closing down the Guantanamo Bay detention center and bringing the terrorists being held there to the United States to be tried in our courts. That's right; with liberal defense attorneys, activist judges, and access to escape captivity or be set free within our country. Given what we already know about imprisoned terrorists who are set free, this is not only an extremely dangerous policy but also outrageous beyond belief.
A great deal of the liberal animosity towards Guantanamo is based upon the erroneous reports of "torture" used during interrogation. What Democrats and senile old fools like John McCain call "torture", people who happen to not be hysterical call "water-boarding". This is a technique many of our own soldiers undergo during training which causes no damage to the person being water-boarded whatsoever. Water-boarding induces panic by making the subject feel a false sense of drowning. The mastermind of 9/11, Khalid Sheik Mohammed, broke in two minutes and gave us all the information on terrorist activities he possessed; information later verified to be completely accurate despite what liberals and John McCain tell us about the ineffectiveness of the technique. Anyone who tells you that water-boarding doesn't work is either lying or terribly misinformed. Have them review the interrogation of Khalid Sheik Mohammed, or any other terrorist we've water-boarded for that matter. The truth rests in fact, not a dreamed-up sense of intellectual idealism.
Guantanamo Bay has been a great success and contiues to be so to this day. Closing-down Guantanamo is one of the worst decisions an administration could possibly make when put into the context of fighting the enemy. The information retrieved from terrorist prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention center is used directly by our soldiers in combat. The U.S. Military is able to more successfully execute their missions in battlefields like Afghanistan and Iraq because of the continued policies of interrogation and water-boarding carried-out at Guantanamo Bay. Make no mistake, if Guantanamo is closed-down more innocent people will die as a result. Safely and securely interrogating terrorists prisoners saves lives. Water-boarding saves lives.
