The day after the election, our next president will face a number of heavy issues. At this point in the election cycle, pundits around the world have already decided it will be Barack Obama, despite his current difficulties. Obamamania is not just American; it is European, Asian, and African too.
Obama’s election would signal to the world that America’s long nightmare with Black racism is over. But there is a risk of disillusionment from people who expect this charismatic, but inexperienced man, to walk on water. On a sour side note, the defeat of Hillary Clinton could indicate that we have not finished with gender prejudice, certainly not in the top leadership role.
I would not dismiss John McCain, the Republican candidate, should events turn very dangerous before the election – such as a successful attack on the American homeland, or pre-election disillusionment with Obama.
The author correctly explains the issues of globalization, the Israel/Palestine conflict, and Jihad. Here's the part I find disturbing:
Climate Change. An intelligent program of planning for the consequences of climate change should be led by the U.S. Replacing oil and coal as our primary energy sources is essential for political as well as environmental purposes. The new president needs to lead on this – with incentives to industry and universities to come up with solutions. We also need further scientific research into the climate changes that could occur from mega-volcanic eruptions (Yellowstone and Indonesia), solar activity, and other catastrophes that in past times plunged the planet into ice ages.
Climate change of all things? What is this rubbish? Of course we cannot call it "global warming" anymore because the Earth is actually cooling! This is especially sad given the relative intelligence of this particular author who I link to regularly. The new President needs to ignore climate change on every level and "stop the handholding" much like the author suggest he do with the Palestinians. As a matter of fact, look at climate change exactly like you should look at the Palestinians and Jihadists and you'll pretty much have it right. Now, when it comes to the "mega-volcanic" eruption that could take place in Yellowstone; I suggest the President first worry about the million or so people that would die immediately and how to save them before even discussing its effect on climate change. On replacing oil: We don't need to replace oil! We simply need to be allowed to drill for more oil in oil-rich places like the waters off the East Coast which the environmentalists have dubbed off-limits and ANWR. Soon we will be able to see Chinese oil platforms off the coast of Florida but not our own because of fish huggers in our own country who would rather save a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of one insignificant species to help ease their atheistic guilt because they refuse to go to God for it, whoever the Hell he is.
